Business Acumen
Achieving High Velocity IT Digital has changed everything! It has enabled organizations to introduce new business models and to significantly change how they do business. It has also changed expectations about how technology is designed, developed, and delivered. Speed is crucial, but not at the expense of quality, reliability, and resilience. In this session, Donna Knapp will describe how organizations are leveraging a myriad of frameworks such as Agile, Lean, DevOps, and IT service management (ITIL) to achieve a high velocity culture. You sometimes hear that these different ways of working are incompatible, or that one or the other of these frameworks is ‘dead’ or irrelevant. In reality, these concepts work extremely well together and are embedded in the culture of the highest-performing organizations. Getting there though isn’t always easy. In this virtual presentation, Donna will describe the behavior patterns found in organizations performing at high velocity. She’ll also touch on how project management professionals are increasingly being called on to help manage the organizational and cultural changes that are necessary to reap the benefits of these highly integrated ways of working.
Speaker Bio:
Donna Knapp has more than 30 years of experience in the IT industry working as a practitioner, consultant, and trainer. For more than 15 years she has been ITSM Academy’s Curriculum Development Manager. Donna’s years of practical experience and love of learning show in her engaging and informative speaking style and many certifications. She is an ITIL Managing Professional, an ITIL Strategic Leader, a Certified Process Design Engineer, a Certified Scrum Master, a Certified Agile Service Manager, and holds numerous DevOps and Site Reliability Engineering certifications. Donna authored The ITSM Process Design Guide: Developing, Reengineering, and Improving IT Service Management, which serves as the foundation for the Certified Process Design Engineer certification. She contributed to the ITIL 4 High-velocity IT publication and is the author of two college textbooks, A Guide to Service Desk Concepts, Fourth Edition, and A Guide to Customer Service Skills for Service Desk Professionals, Fourth Edition. Donna is a DevOps Institute Ambassador and was the original course author for The DevOps Institute’s DevOps Foundation certification course. She also teamed with Michael Orzen (co-author of Lean IT) to develop the Value Stream Mapping Fundamentals certification course.
