Transforming the Sport of Rowing for the 21st Century The sport of rowing has deep historic roots, long-standing traditions and was originally shaped and influenced by a white, masculine culture. Pressure has been building, demanding change in the sport. Recent social justice movements have accelerated and emphasized these demands. At the highest competitive level, the International Olympic Committee is seeking to overhaul the image of the Olympics, bringing in sports that resonate with the target global audience. At the recreational, school, and college levels, there is a growing expectation that the participation profile will fully reflect the emerging US demographics. Amanda Kraus, CEO of USRowing, will lead an engaging presentation on how she was able to meet this by focusing on excellent leadership, creative solutions, and coalition-building with diverse and non-traditional stakeholders.
